Hanging Seed Pod Swing
Hanging Seed Pod Swing, a project with Hannah Givler. We explored the function and metaphor of a space woven out of a fire-hose in the shape of a baobab seedpod. With fireproof bark used for creating rope and cloth, a trunk that stores water in times of drought, and hanging fruit full of nutritional and decorative value, the East African baobab tree is truly multifunctional, exemplifying the resourcefulness both of us encountered in Kenya and Tanzania.
Shown in Exposed curated by Rachel Moore at Helen Day Art Center in Stowe, Vermont.
I’m Okay, You’re Okay
I’m Okay, You’re Okay, a project with Karolina Gnatowksi. Based on the idea of a fainting couch and the idea of enjoying one’s company but needing your own space as well, this was a collaboration based on exchange. I built one wooden frame and Karolina made one cushion. We then traded and I built the second frame based on her cushion and she built a cushion based on my frame.
Shown in R&D at Manifold, Chicago.
